Thunderbolts: everything we know about the new Marvel movie

Marvel Studios is bringing the Thunderbolts, a team of villains from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), to the big screen. The film will feature an all-star cast, including Sebastian Stan and Harrison Ford. Although there had been speculation about a possible tragic ending for the team, plot details are being kept under wraps. The film is scheduled for release on May 5, 2025 as part of Phase 6 of the UCM.

The Thunderbolts team, created by Baron Zemo in the comics, is billed as a dark answer to the Avengers. While Zemo&;s involvement in the film has not been confirmed, the team is expected to include several reformed villains. Eric Pearson, writer of Black Widow, is in charge of the script, while Jake Schreier will direct the film.

While some cast changes have occurred, with actors such as Ayo Edebiri being replaced, the main lineup includes Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Olga Kurylenko, Wyatt Russell, Hannah John-Kamen and Sebastian Stan. The film&;s plot is being kept under wraps, but is expected to involve clashes with the Avengers or other UCM foes.

While the characters&; origin story has already been introduced in the UCM, the film is expected to offer an unexpected plot twist. With its release date confirmed and a talented cast, Thunderbolts promises to be an exciting addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
