Nichijou 2.0? My Deer Friend Nokotan will be the new comic gem from the Spy x Family studio.

Well, they have been the brains behind such gems as Shingeki no Kyojin, Vinland Saga and, most recently, Ranking of Kings. But wait, it doesn’t end there. Now they’re about to embark on a new adventure with My Deer Friend Nokotan.

But we’re not going to let you continue without giving you a sneak peek at the official trailer.

Without further ado, here’s everything you need to know about this promising new title from the same studio as Spy x Family.

My Deer Friend Nokotan: release date and official trailer

The new anime from WIT Studio has a confirmed release date and will be released on July 7, 2024. The director, Masahiko Oota, best known for hits such as Himouto! Umaru-chan and Gabriel DropOut, is leading this project.

Although the manga My Deer Friend Nokotan has been running since 2019, and already has 4 volumes, its popularity led it to get licensed in the United States. This 2024 will be full of exciting anime, as quite apart from MOONRISE and Suicide Squad Isekai, My Deer Friend Nokotan joins.

What did you think of the My Deer Friend Nokotan trailer? There is no doubt that it reminds us of Nichijou for the first time: ridiculous and wild.

What is the plot of My Deer Friend Nokotan?

The anime My Deer Friend Nokotan introduces us to Koshi Torako, a high school student that everyone admires. She hides a secret under her facade. Behind that mask of an exemplary student is a delinquent with a shady past.

One day, fate plays an unexpected card. Shikanoko Noko, a mysterious creature, appears in her path. Friend or foe? No one knows for sure, although Nokotan is no ordinary creature. Its presence awakens in Torako a mixture of curiosity and nostalgia.

Thus begins a strange friendship between the former criminal and the creature with enigmatic eyes. Together, they will explore the nooks and crannies of the city, discovering hidden truths and facing unexpected enemies. Because, at the end of the day, even urban legends have their own story to tell.
